It has been far too long since America has seen a true Jeffersonian declare his candidacy for president in one of the “major” political parties. The breed is so rare that most Americans have never seen even one elected official who believes in Jeffersonian principles.

Sadly, too many people really have no idea what Jeffersonian principles are. These principles were used as the most basic guidelines of operating any kind of government – local, state or national—at our nation’s founding. Government should be small, limited and firmly bound by “the chains of the Constitution”, as Jefferson himself put it and in Washington's words "Free from foreign entanglements."

As more Americans “wake up” to the realization that our government is growing and operating way out of control, many know that in order for this nation to survive we must return to those Jeffersonian principles. So, when a candidate for president adheres to those same principles, it only makes sense that we who also support those ideals would support that candidate in his bid for the White House.

The one candidate who supports Jeffersonian principles is Dr. Ron Paul, US Representative from Texas. Dr. Paul is well known for voting against bad legislation and well-meaning legislation alike whenever the legislation is unconstitutional. Dr. Paul opposes any further increase in the federal government, and seeks to scale it back—even if that means shutting down long-standing big government agencies and operations.

Therefore, the Jefferson Republican Party hereby fully endorses and supports the Honorable Ron Paul in his bid to become the next president of the United States of America.

Response To President Obama's Libya Speech

President Barack Obama declared Monday night that the United States intervened in Libya to prevent a slaughter of civilians that would have stained the world's conscience and "been a betrayal of who we are."

Apparently The President is unaware (or doesn't care) that these military actions are a betrayal of THE CONSTITUTION and the very principles the nation was founded upon.

Supposedly Colonel Gadaffi's forces have "murdered civilians", nevermind that these "civilians" are mainly foreign mercenaries and hostile tribes armed by outsiders and militants from neighboring countries.

Neverminding the FACT that it is none of the business of the United States what occurs in the Libyan Civil War are we to believe that if UNITED STATES CITIZENS rose in armed rebellion against Washington that President Obama would not use military force to stop such a rebellion or Coup against HIS government??

Are we to believe that if a group of citizens demanded that The President and Congress step down that they would peacefully do so without taking any action to preserve their own power??

How are the actions taken by the Libyan Gov't any different from the actions our own gov't would take in a similar situation?

If my history is correct the last time Americans TRIED to free themselves from federal control in 1861 the President and Congress began a great war against the citizens which led to the death of 700,000 Americans. Has Gadaffi killed even 1/100th of this amount in his attempt to preserve his government?

Obama's comments are a bad tasting mixture of naivety, arrogance and hypocrisy and while he ran on a campaign of peace and "bringing the troops home" he is no better than President Bush and is worthy of the same scorn that his own party heaped on Bush for engaging in the same type of Globe Trotting Militarism.

Universal Health Care Is Socialism

The current and most recent scheme perpetuated by our government seems to be closer to becoming a reality. The universal health care promoted by the president and many members of Congress is a dangerous infection of Communism, and will wreck what is left of our nation.

Nowhere in our Constitution is the government authorized to even consider such a notion, let alone shove it down the throats of the American people. The whole scheme completely violates constitutional law, thereby making any member of Congress, who dares to vote for it, guilty of breaking the law.

If we had a Supreme Court with a backbone, then we could rest assured that the whole business would be thrown out due to its unconstitutionality. However, we do not even have that benefit.

We do have two resources: to write and call our respective members of Congress and demand that they oppose such legislation, and vote out of office any and all who vote for universal health care.

Some states, including Texas, are considering invoking the 10th Amendment in order to reject and nullify universal health care legislation should it pass. The States can and should do such a thing, and we wholly support them if they do. The States have the right to recall their sitting senators if they violate the state's wishes. Should this pass, then States should issue massive recalls of the traitorous senators and hold them responsible for their disastrous actions.

Already we have an economy that is on the brink of total collapse. Should universal health care be forced upon the American people, then we will be shoved over the edge of the cliff with the weight of national debt falling down upon us.

Facts About Hate Crimes

I am writing this in response to federal hate crimes legislation. Keep in mind, the Jefferson Republican Party does not condone any acts of violence against anyone.

I will be using 2007 statistics because those are the most recent available. I also will only be concentrating on the more serious violent crimes, because if someone spray paints a mosque or Synagogue the P.C. police tend to go to the opposite extreme and a call it a hate crime. However, if a Baptist Church were to be vandalized it is labeled as just simple vandalism.

Now for the statistics:

In 2007 there were 1,408,337 violent crimes in the United States. Broken down there were:

16,929 murders
90,427 forcible rapes
855,856 cases of aggravated assault.

Of these, the Justice Department considered nine murders two rapes and 1,907 aggravated assaults as hate crimes.

That means only .005% of murders, .000221% of rapes and .02% of aggravated assault victims were victims of hate crime according to the Justice Department.

The fact is the so-called hate crime victims make a very small percentage of the total amount victims of violent crimes.

The question the Jefferson Republicans have is this: do certain groups rate special laws by making crimes against them carry a greater punishment? We resoundingly and unequivocally say no!

The constitution guarantees Equal protection under the law. Not special protection for certain chosen groups, especially when the so-called hate crimes make up such a small percentage of the amount of violent crime taking place.

On a side note I would ask were is the anguish for those million or so victims of violent crimes who weren’t classified as hate crimes. Lastly, our position is to punish the crime, and the severity of the crime, no matter who the victim is. Do not attach a special label to crimes against certain groups, and call it a hate crime in order to increase the punishment just to pander to special interest groups.

The JRP Message Is Spreading

Since the 2008 election, more are discovering that the two parties of the United States care little for the people and even less for the Constitution. There is a desire and a longing among a growing group of people to return this country to Jeffersonian governmental principles.

In the last few months independent branches of the Jefferson Republican Party have been organized in Arizona, California and New Mexico.

Noah Cooke of the Arkansas JRP said, "This [the next four years] can be a time for intense party building. I think we have seen that there is no real difference between the GOP and the dem[ocrat]s. We need to do some brainstorming and we need to come up with some concrete ideas about building our party. Freedom's greatest enemy is apathy."

Tracy Garcia has been hard at work in organizing the Arizona JRP. "I think the country really wants another party," Mr. Garcia said, "but nobody ever creates one with just good fundamental ideas!" JRP is that one party with good fundamental principles and ideas.

The Jefferson Republican Party can and should continue to grow. As the Democratic and "Republican" Parties continue to take this country down a road of increased socialism and "lite" Communism, more will understand that we do not need more of the same, but rather a return of what once was.

What Lies Ahead?

The events of the last few weeks have been startling and frightening. Who would ever have thought, just a few short years ago, that we would see the government bailing out the big banks, mortgage companies and insurance giants? As these words are being written, it takes no stretch of one’s imagination to realize that complete economic collapse could be just around the corner. Our elected officials seem bent upon bringing such a catastrophe to our very doorsteps.

It is with these thoughts in mind, the Jefferson Republican Party issues this urgent plea to all citizens of the United States of America. Now is the time to take necessary measures to protect one’s family and property. The future is very uncertain. Should a complete economic collapse take place, we could be caught between a rioting populace and a government wielding the sword of martial law. It is not only wise, but also prudent, to insure that your family will be protected and provided for.

We can only hope that those who have the most to gain are only trying to use scare tactics and the element of fear in order to goad us in to abiding by their wishes and goals. We sincerely hope that these claims are only bluster, but it is best to prepare for the worst.

In 1776 Thomas Paine wrote in the opening line of The American Crisis, “These are the times that try men’s souls.” Paine had no idea that line would apply more to our day, than to his. Convince Ron Paul To Make A Third Party Run

While it is a little known fact, there is currently an on-going effort to convince Ron Paul to make a third party run for the White House. A petition drive online is attempting to show Dr. Paul that there are enough Americans who want an alternative to the clones of Party A and Party B. (Click here to view the petition and/or sign it.)

In recent weeks Dr. Paul has been dropping hints (despite what the media have claimed; according to the media Dr. Paul has dropped out of the race more time than George Foreman has retired from boxing) that he would consider a third party run for president. However, he needs to hear that there are Americans out there who want him to do just that. To many of us wish to complain about Hillary/Obama/McCain, but we don't do anything other than complain. Now is your chance. Sign the petition, email Dr. Paul's Congressional office, his campaign office, and write him a letter as well. Call his offices - let him know that you want to see him run for president.

We need an alternative. Can he win as a third party candidate? Of course! Will it be an uphill battle? Of course, the machine that controls our nation will fight such a move tooth and nail. But just because it will be hard doesn't mean that it cannot be done.

"Merger" Update

After viewing Mr. Whitaker's campaign site, I see no indication that he has "merged" with another party or parties. His campaign site has a banner link to our main site, JeffersonRepublicanParty.com - he is not ashamed of us. As Mr. Whitaker continues to support the rest of the JRP in good faith, we will reciprocate the same toward him in like fashion. We wish him all the best in the 2010 Tennessee gubernatorial election.

As far as the so-called "United Jeffersonian Party" goes, the website that indicated as going live "soon", still has not emerged.

The Jefferson Republican Party is here to stay, and we will continue in our struggle to restore government to its proper place. Our desire is to work from the bottom up - that is to start at the local level.

Reelecting a Jeffersonian

February 15, 2008 - Fyffe, Alabama - William Potter, chairman of the Jefferson Republican Party and the JRP-Alabama, is seeking to be the first Jefferson Republican to be reelected as a member of the Fyffe Town Council.

While many "third" parties focus too much of their attention and monies upon the Federal elections, the JRP continues to be a grassroots effort working from the ground up - that means focusing on the town, city and county elections first and foremost.

For much of the last few weeks, Mr. Potter has spent his time concentrating on his efforts to be reelected. Though Fyffe is small in comparison to more well-known cities, it still takes a lot of time, effort, and yes, money, to win an election - no matter how "insignificant" the national parties and media deem it to be.

The Jefferson Republican Party believes that all elected offices are important and vital. We also believe that the only way the average American can retake this country and turn things around is to start winning local elections. We can talk about how important retaking Washington, DC, is, or our state capitols. However, those places will never return to the people, unless the people first take responisbility in their own backyard first.

No Merger With Anyone

There is to be no merger of the Jefferson Republican Party. The allegations of such taking place are complete fabrications. None of the members of the JRP, including the party leadership, had even heard of this until the JRP-Arkansas chairman read the interview with Angelo Cobrasci on Third Party Watch.

The Jefferson Republican Party has no intentions of merging with anyone. The JRP is an independent political party. Though "Republican" is a part of our name, we are in no way affiliated with the so-called Republican Party of today. We are republican because we espouse the republican views of the founders of our once great Republic. We would never even consider merging with another party without giving deliberate, careful consideration. We will not compromise, or give opportunity to compromise our convictions and ideals.

The Jefferson Republican Party would never make a major move without notifying all of our members well in advance. In the past we have entered into alliances with other like-minded parties, such as the Constitution Party of New York. In those cases we carefully considered the alliance, and all the members were allowed to vote on the matter. We do not want to suprise the public or the members of the Jefferson Republican Party.

Regarding Mr. Cobrasci and his "United Jeffersonian Party", we have very little information on who he is, or where he believes he has received the authority to make the claims he has made in the last few days. Mr. Cobrasci mentions that he has been in contact with Mr. Carl Whitaker of the JRP-Tennessee. As of yet, we have received no confirmation or denial of this claim from Mr. Whitaker and our members in Tennessee.

JRP to merge?

Third Party Watch is reporting that the JRP has merged with another third party to form the United Jeffersonian Party. To the extent of my knowledge, as the Communications Director for the Jefferson Republican Party, these rumors are false and completely inaccurate. There has been no mention to me of a potential or even possible merger. Neither has there been any discussion of such among the members of the JRP. Such a decision would have to be voted upon, and we have not done so.

I have not spoken with Mr. Potter in the last couple of days, and I am awaiting word from him regarding said rumors.

Killing the Opposition

Yesterday morning headlines around the world blared with the news that former Pakistani prime Minister Bhutto had been assassinated. While not the most exemplary person, Bhutto had long stood against the corrupt and sadistic government of Pakistan. Bhutto was perhaps President Musharraf's most severe critic, hence it is no surprise that she has met an untimely end.

However, it is quite interesting to note that Musharraf and the Pakistani government has wasted no time in pinning the blame upon terrosists - Al-Qaeda, no less.

This foolish action of killing an opposition leader has taken Pakistan to the brink of civil war, according to the Canadian and Australian media. Pakistan is a nation with nuclear weapons and such a conflict could prove to be devastating to that entire region.

The Jefferson Republican Party condemns the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. The killing of an opponent, despite whoever is truly responsible for the action, is deplorable. Further more this action shows that man has reached such a despicable state that not only are men targeted in their murderous designs, but also are women in children murdered without impunity.

WHO CARES ABOUT THE LAW?

The following article originally appeared on the Swamp Fox Files on Monday, December 3, 2007. Everyone is urged to take action on this issue.

This past weekend I wrote the governor of North Carolina, Mike Easley, about the position he has recently taken on the illegal alien issue here. North Carolina is allowing illegals to attend North Carolina's community colleges. While Easley's response (actually, it was his office that responded, i.e., he didn't care to even bother read what I wrote) was not surprising, it is still infuriating.

The following is the complete text of the response from the governor's office (bold is mine for emphasis):

Thank you for contacting Gov. Mike Easley on this important issue.

Gov. Easley says it is in North Carolina’s interest to allow immigrants to attend North Carolina community colleges if they qualify and pay out-of-state tuition. Out of state tuition more than covers the cost of the service, so no tax dollars pay for their education. These are young people who were brought here as babies or youngsters, through no fault of their own. They distinguished themselves in our public schools.

Gov. Easley will not grind a heel in their faces and slam doors on them. The community college systems must be open to everyone so they can become productive members of our society and help North Carolina and America compete in the world economy. [Even though they are not even citizens?] To do otherwise would be to set a policy that is destined to build a weaker North Carolina . We do not want to reap the consequences of that. [What is this a reference to?]

Denying immigrants access to community colleges does not penalize them, it penalizes our state and innocent children. Any problems with immigration exist because of the United States Congress’ failure to accept its Constitutional responsibility to deal honestly with immigration policies.

Otherwise, the governor doesn't care what I, or anyone else in this state thinks! He only cares about the poor, defenseless, lawbreaking invaders! You see, the governor of North Carolina cannot run for reelection next year, so he can do whatever he wants. He doesn't care about enforcing the laws of the State of North Carolina, just the agenda of his handlers.

The governor's refusal to enforce the laws of North Carolina are grounds for impeachment. The North Carolina General Assembly needs to call a special session to resolve this issue, and call into question the governor's misguided actions.

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

To say there is nothing wrong with America, or the world even, is a gross understatement. The fact is, there are many things wrong with our country, too numerous to count. Most of those problems are merely systems of a root cause.

Too many people in America and throughout the world today are cowards. They are cowards with no sense of honor, loyalty or self-respect. While this may seem to be a harsh assessment at first, deep down, we all know it to be true.

Don’t believe it? Just pay attention to the reaction of the general population whenever the government tells them that they cannot do something. Instead of raising a ruckus, we simply bow down to the “rod” of government, like the sheep we are.

Still in denial? Think about this: the government blatantly steals money from your paycheck via the grand ole Income Tax, which is in clear violation of the Constitution for the United states of America. Yet, the American people do nothing. More often than not, those who seek to educate the American people on the TRUTH are treated as “wackos” and “cranks”.

“But, we cannot have all of the wonderful benefits of government, like paved roads, without the Income Tax and the IRS”, you may say. Oh, really? Did you know that the Income Tax NEVER pays for highways? That is the responsibilities of the individual states to maintain their own highways and roads, not the Federal government. And the Constitution clearly indicates that the Federal government cannot place a direct tax upon the people, it can only tax the States. The Income Tax is a direct tax. So, tell me who is breaking the law?

Even when shown the truth of the matter, the American people choose not to stand up and demand an end to this tyranny. Rather, they choose to allow Big Brother to come into their homes and rob them at will.

To make matters worse, many businesses in America have become willing participants in keeping the people in check. Ungodly rules are made, and employees are browbeaten into submission. Instead of taking a stand, we accept the ungodly rules, rather than risk losing our jobs for standing up for what is right.

Even churches have gladly yoked up with the government by accepting 501( c )3 incorporation. Having accepted the money carrot, most pastors are afraid to take a stand in their pulpits, and rather preach the political and religious correctness of bowing down before the government as our true gods.

And saddest of all, there is no sense of loyalty among Americans anymore. Husbands are not loyal to their wives, wives are not loyal to their husbands, and children are not loyal to their parents. We are too busy looking out for ourselves, and our own happiness to care about those around us, those that we should love more than our own selves. Loyalty has gone the way of the dodo, and took Bravery and Courage with Her.

Sometimes it seems it would have been better to have been born in another time, when loyalty was a premium, and a man was as good as his word. Plagues and famine is preferable to this Age of Confusion in which we find ourselves struggling through.

However, though impossible it must seem, we must continue to struggle on. We must take up the banner of our Revolutionary forefathers, and stand up for Liberty. We must continue to write, struggle, and meet the task at hand. We face similar odds as that Revolutionary generation. At no time, did more than half the colonists ever fully support the cause of Liberty; most of the time only one-fourth supported the cause. There were many dark days when all seemed surely lost, but they never gave up.

On this Veterans Day 2007, let us remember those who fought for freedom in that War For Independence of the American Colonies. Let us take courage in their example, and like they, never give up! Let us raise the Black Flag and declare “NO QUARTER!” against the enemies of Liberty, our Constitution and the Bill of Rights!

Let us never despair and never give up!

I would like to say thank you for all the support and prayers I received for my run here in New York's Putnam County. I recently ran in a Republican primary for a County Legislature position against an incumbent who is a lackey of the political machine. We were not victorious but I garnered nearly 35% of the vote (It was a disappointing 18% turnout). It was a great experience and has only whetted my appetite for more. I have only just begun to fight!

I was endorsed by the Constitution Party of New York as well as the Jefferson Republican Party. I just wanted to say thank you.

My issues were Illegal Immigration, High Taxes and Property Rights and it seems it is a winning combination. I just needed more money to get the word out.

So please, be informed and get out to vote in every election, even primaries. It is very important if we intend to take our Republic back.

Give Up The Revenues

October 20, 2007—In recent weeks the attacks by local, state and federal governments against those who choose to use tobacco products have increased on an unprecedented scale. From anti-smoking TV ads, to some states positioning Revenue Agents on their borders in order inspect the vehicles of those who buy tobacco products from outside their state. These acts are unconstitutional, and infringe upon the rights of the individual.

These acts are also immoral and unfair. The only basis most local and state governments give for attacking tobacco is the fact that it is unhealthy. Though tobacco products may have an ill effect upon the user, it does no harm to anyone other than the user. This is quite the opposite of alcohol, which kills thousands every year.

No one has ever witnessed a smoker beating his wife or children because he smoked too much. No one has ever witnessed an accident where several were killed because of a smoking driver. Yet, every day, many are beaten due to alcohol consumption, and thousands die on our highways due to drunkenness. However, the state, federal and local governments prefer to act as if none of these events ever occur. Alcohol is rarely attacked as being unsafe and dangerous, rather tobacco is attacked upon these grounds.

If local and state governments are serious about how concerned they are regarding the health and well being of their citizenry, then they need to take a hard stand to show how devoted they are to their anti-tobacco crusade.

We, the members of the Jefferson Republican Party, call upon all state, local and federal governments to cease from collecting taxes upon tobacco products. If these governments are truly concerned about the health of their citizens, then it would be best to show this commitment by giving up the enormous revenues collected from tobacco taxes. This action would be a firm stand and show the people how concerned they really are. By continuing to accept these tobacco revenues, governments are only showing their people that their only concern is how much money they can make off their citizens.

Monday, September 17, will be the most forgotten day in American history. Most do not realize it, but Monday is supposed to be a holiday to honor the Constitution for the United States of America. Constitution Day shows up on very few calendars, and even fewer Americans actually know what it is.

On September 17, 1787, 55 delegates from the States met to sign the Constitution in Philadelphia at the final meeting of the Constitutional Convention. The Constitutional Convention had been in session since May 14, when representatives began meeting in secret to replace the Articles of Confederation. While it could be disputed that the delegates should have left well enough alone, hindsight is always 20/20. Besides who would have ever thought at that time that Patrick Henry and the Anti-Federalists could have been right about a Federal, Central Government?!

Sadly, in an effort by this nations leaders over the past 100 years or more, there has been a movement to corrupt our once Grand Republic into a Mafia-run Democracy. The only way that can and will be accomplished is by the continual neglect of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These days politicians only use the Constitution when it helps their agenda. However, those politicians would have never gained the power that they now have had the American people took care to know and understand the Constitution.

Very few Americans have any idea what the Constitution is anymore. Very few can actually tell you anything, including the preamble which school children once memorized, that is contained in the Constitution's text. How can we expect to remain free if we are ignorant of the very thing that was established to protect our freedom and liberty? As Thomas Jefferson once said, "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

Monday should be a day that is set aside for all Americans to read, learn, discuss and observe the Constitution. We should read about the men who helped write this great document, and the men who signed it. We should learn why it is so vitally important that the Constitution be strictly enforced, and that politicians be forced to abide by it under threat of impeachment and imprisonment.

In all probability, Constitution Day 2007 will pass by, largely unnoticed and forgotten by the vast majority of Americans, because we expect to be ignorant and free. Soon, we will still be ignorant, but not free. We will just be ignorant slaves.

Happy Birthday, Constitution, and may your signers never be forgotten, nor why they signed.

August 25, 2007—It has been far too long since America has seen a true Jeffersonian declare his candidacy for president in one of the “major” political parties. The breed is so rare that most Americans have never seen even one elected official who believes in Jeffersonian principles.

Sadly, too many people really have no idea what Jeffersonian principles are. These principles were used as the most basic guidelines of operating any kind of government – local, state or national—at our nation’s founding. Government should be small, limited and firmly bound by “the chains of the Constitution”, as Jefferson himself put it.

As more Americans “wake up” to the realization that our government is growing and operating way out of control, many know that in order for this nation to survive we must return to those Jeffersonian principles. So, when a candidate for president adheres to those same principles, it only makes sense that we who also support those ideals would support that candidate in his bid for the White House.

Dr. Paul is well known for voting against bad legislation and well-meaning legislation alike whenever the legislation is unconstitutional. Dr. Paul opposes any further increase in the federal government, and seeks to scale it back—even if that means shutting down long-standing big government agencies and operations.

Phew, what a week - what a great week in Iowa. But first the important news: my wife Carol had a heart-pacemaker implanted on Sunday, and she is doing much better. She had a scare - me too! - and we are both so grateful for all your good wishes and prayers. They worked. And now she is safely back in Texas.

As I campaigned from morning to night in the August heat the last week, sometimes I'd get tired. And then I'd think of all the supporters, working in Iowa and so many other states, who never stop no matter how tired they are. Could I ever do less? Never. And I never will.

What could be more important than this movement of ours - for freedom, peace, and prosperity? We hold the future of our country, of our children and grandchildren, in our hands. We can never stop, never flag. And we never will.

One old friend compared this campaign to the tortoise, and our opponents to the hare, in the old Aesop's fable. The hare was fast and flashy, but because of over-confidence and carelessness, he lost the race. The tortoise kept going, step by steady step, taking nothing for granted, never giving in, never giving up, and winning the race.

In Iowa, we took some good steps forward in our race. Considering the converts we made, the organization we brought forth, and the amount of money we spent as compared to the others, we are on the right trajectory.

And now, after I make sure Carol is well taken care of, I am off to New Hampshire, and campaigning in Texas for our straw poll on September 1.

This our moment. Not only because Americans are sick and tired of foreign wars, of the oppressive income tax, of growing restrictions on our precious liberties - but because spending, deficits, and Federal Reserve troublemaking have brought on a global financial crisis that endangers all of us. Now, of all times in our modern history, we need the message of sound money and economic freedom taught to all our people. How desperately we need the truth.

This is a dangerous time for all we believe in. Now, above all, we must spread the truths of the Constitution, of the rule of law, of life, of peace, of freedom, of an America that will truly be a city on the hill.

The European media outlets, political organizations and others are trying to claim that such an election was a fraud. That the Scottish people would never think about independence. Such claims are proverbial slaps in the faces of the Scottish people.

Political parties in the 1790s did not issue official platforms, but our co-founder Thomas Jefferson issued a major statement in January 1799 that was widely reprinted and circulated. It became the basis of his party's philosophy and is the basis of the platform of the Jefferson Republican Party today:

…In confutation of these and all future calumnies, by way of anticipation, I shall make to you a profession of my political faith; in confidence that you will consider every future imputation on me of a contrary complexion, as bearing on its front the mark of falsehood and calumny.

I do then, with sincere zeal, wish an inviolable preservation of our present federal constitution, according to the true sense in which it was adopted by the States, that in which it was advocated by its friends, and not that which its enemies apprehended, who therefore became its enemies; and I am opposed to the monarchising its features by the forms of its administration, with a view to conciliate a first transition to a President and Senate for life, and from that to a hereditary tenure of these offices, and thus to worm out the elective principle. To these I will add, that I was a sincere well-wisher to the success of the French revolution, and still wish it may end in the establishment of a free and well-ordered republic. But I have not been insensible under the atrocious depredations they have committed on our commerce.

The JRP has submitted a proposal for an alliance between ourselves and the Constitution Party of New York. The proposal will be brought before the members of the CPNY in an upcoming meeting. Too many so-called coalitions are more concerned with name recognition, and not about actually doing something. The JRP wants to do something and accomplish something, so we are seeking to start our own coalition with like-minded parties and organizations.

We, the members of the various state parties of the Jefferson Republican Party, call for a coalition between the Constitution Party of New York and ourselves. The said coalition shall henceforth be known as the Alliance for Constitutional Government. The members of the Jefferson Republican Party (JRP) believe that a coalition between our party and the Constitution Party of New York (CPNY) would be mutually beneficial.

Before the said coalition can be placed into effect, some principles must be agreed upon:
1. That all members are unquestionably 100% opposed to abortion in all forms, for all reasons.
2. Support a constitutionally limited government as envisioned by the Founders of our Republic.

Other principles can be added later as deemed necessary by the members of this coalition, or the representatives of the member parties. Other parties and/or organizations may join in the future, but they must agree/adhere to the stated principles of the Alliance for Constitutional Government.

The members of the JRP believe that too many of the coalitions that are in current existence care more about name recognition rather than accomplishing any goals. We believe we can accomplish our goals, should enough of us who believe in a constitutional government, and are opposed to abortion begin to work together.

The members of the JRP ask that the members of the CPNY carefully consider this proposal. We believe that together can accomplish much, if we work together, and help one another.

Fyffe, Alabama City Councilman and JRP Member Fred Works has stated that he is undecided at this date as to whether he will seek a third term to the municipal government.

Councilman Works is a former police chief and a staunch supporter of limited government and second amendment issues.

I myself will encourage this patriot to seek another term and have high hopes that as the election grows nearer he will make the right choice and continue to stand for the values of our forefathers.

Jefferson Republican Party Calls On All States to Assert Their Rights and Oppose the Implementation of the REAL ID Law

For Immediate Release—

The members of the Jefferson Republican Party have always been concerned with the Federal Government’s blatant usurpation of power. One such piece of legislation which causes great concern is the REAL ID Act of 2005, Division B of an act of the United States Congress entitled “Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defense, the Global War on Terror, and Tsunami Relief of 2005” (Pub. L. No. 109-13, 119 Stat. 231, May 11, 2005).

This act is set to take effect on May 11, 2008, and would do the following to the States in the Union:

1. Impose an undue financial cost. Nationally, the cost will be $11 billion, each state is expected to shoulder an estimated $200-$400 million of the total cost.
2. Take powers from the individual states previously left to them, namely that of the issuance and regulation of automobile driver’s licenses.
3. Place the personal information of individual citizens on a card that could be used for criminal gain. Information could possible be that of financial and medical, depending upon the discretion of the US Department of Homeland Security. This card is to be swiped through equipment that is easily obtainable by non-police personnel.
4. Be used for possible checkpoints throughout the United States.

Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tx) has stated the following about this law:

"This legislation gives authority to the Secretary of Homeland Security to expand required information on driver's licenses, potentially including such biometric information as retina scans, finger prints, DNA information, and even Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) radio tracking technology. Including such technology as RFID would mean that the federal government, as well as the governments of Canada and Mexico, would know where Americans are at all times of the day and night. " (Ron Paul -A National ID Bill Masquerading as Immigration Reform, Before the US House of Representatives, February 9, 2005)

Therefore, we the members of the Jefferson Republican Party, call on all states to act as the Legislature of Maine already has, and to enact a resolution refusing to implement the REAL ID Act, protesting the actions of that law, and calling for Congress to repeal the REAL ID Act of 2005.

We, the members of the Jefferson Republican Party, do call upon the elected Legislators of our respective States to pass this resolution without delay. We call upon our State Legislatures to pass laws interposing the power of the States, between the citizens and this unconstitutional attack on their liberties and welfare.

If you are angered and irate at the path this nation has taken, if you are disturbed by the continual neglect our supposed "Representatives" render to us their constituents who put them in office, and are generally disgusted at the moral decline our country has fallen to, we ask you to get pro-active and join a Jefferson Republican Party of your State, if there has not been one established in your State get active with fellow conservatives in your State and start one. The basis of this new party will not be National control, but one that is focused on the standards of a federation of individual State parties united in one common cause, thereby emphasizing the vary nature of a Federal Republic that we seek to return to through the actual function of our party. We may lead by example and be stronger for it.
